I see a lot of Imax documentaries on DVD at thrifts but never this one, now I see on eBay that it's on Blu-Ray, I'll get that instead.

I saw this film at the Maritime Museum IMAX theater at Norwalk, CT in 1995. It is such a beautiful work of art and the music has never left me after all these years. My parents bought the CD of the soundtrack and it's one of my favorites. My mother passed still rather young 3 years later; her love of the sea was something she instilled in me and memories of seeing this film with her is an indelible part of me. I'm so glad this trailer is here to help me remember with fondness. Thank you for leaving something unforgettable with me for the last 29 years.

I had the great opportunity to work on this film. Our team evaluated the flight worthiness of the IMAX cameras that would be mounted on the F/A-18. It was a really incredible experience and a career highlight. In addition to working with MF Films, the two pilots and I got to fly down to Pensacola to learn more about the Blue Angels to prepare for the flight test program. The two pilots got to fly with the Blues, one during a practice airshow and the other during the airshow over Pensacola Beach. I got a flight in a helicopter from NAS Pensacola to the pier at the beach to watch the airshow with the rest of the Blue Angels support team. My Dad was a retired USAF C-130 pilot and just happened to be passing Pensacola while I was there for the week. I arranged with one of the USMC pilots to give my Dad a cockpit tour of Fat Albert. I learned years later how much that experience meant for my Dad.

The movie was great and represented where a lot of white aryan surfers were at that time, which I was one of them. The poster is the epitome of blonde blue eyed white aryan surfers who owned the coast of southern Ca back in those days. I look back at those times with a sense of embarrassment. Malibu back in the 60's and 70's and all of the California coast were anti people of color and anti semitic. The term surf nazi's was not just a quaint term for surfers back then. I know I will get a lot of shit for saying this. The 1960's Gidget was based on a Jewish woman who lived in Malibu but had burning crosses on her front yard by anti semites who were surfers in the area. This is just real CA surfing history. And that history is racism based on white ownership of the California coast.

Stunning photography. We must have really had fabulous luck with our September 2023 week with Tonga Blue Lagoon resort south of Vava'u in Northern Tonga. Staying so close to where the whales hang out and 11 years later the whale numbers had significantly increased. First morning we could see spouts on the open side of the island before breakfast. For the first hour on the water we just saw spouts AND THEM WHAM OHHH. A Heat Run with 12 males chasing a single female. An hour later another Heat Run with 6 male, a bit later one with 4 males. We swum with the first two runs. That afternoon in tranquil waters we swum with a mother and calf tenderly hanging at the surface. Next morning we swam with a male 'singer' hanging vertically below the surface. Hearing him in our ears and whole body vibrations. The whole week our wonderful skipper Henri and whale swim guide Jess had us with multiple mother and calf experiences including a calf rising from below to eyeball me from 3 metres, with my guide pulling me back so I did not clip with a pectoral fin as it glided past. Most days there was a prevailing 15-25 kph south easterly wind except in lee of island. We only saw light rain on two evenings in the wee small hours in our fale. Awesome experience, awesome whales, awesome location, awesome host / guides, awesome food. A HUGE PRIVILEGE.

Excellent movie ! Must been seen on an IMAX Screen to get the full effect of how immense the Grand Canyon is

In 1972 I was a skinny 10 year old haole living on a sugar plantation of the Big Island. I saw 5 Summer Stories at the Palace Theater in Hilo. It shaped my life.

I remember my father buying the soundtrack to this after we watched it at the imax theatre in the National Naval Museum in Pensacola. Had to be around 2002. Such a vibe.
